Sperry Top-Sider Partners with Fidelity Sportswear: The Two Iconic New England Brands Launch Capsule Collection for Fall 2012

Lexington, Mass and Boston — (Sep. 25, 2012) – Sperry Top-Sider, the leading nautical performance and lifestyle brand famous for inventing the world’s first boat shoe in 1935, is partnering with naval heritage brand, Fidelity Sportswear, on a coordinated footwear and outerwear capsule collection.  The collection for men and women is launching in Fall 2012 at high-end retailers and boutiques across the globe next month.

Reflecting the DNA of both brands, the new line combines Sperry and Fidelity detailing in shoes and outerwear items.  The Fidelity for Sperry Top-Sider footwear line includes two women’s and three men’s styles featuring classic Sperry silhouettes — the Authentic Original 2-Eye, Authentic Original 7-Eye, CVO and Shipyard boot styles — with uppers made of Fidelity’s signature wool fabrics and military-inspired button and buckle detailing.

The Sperry Top-Sider for Fidelity outerwear collection features jackets for men and women that include Sperry Top-Sider design cues such as white binding details, crimson closures, and a wave siping-inspired lining.  Drawing from Fidelity’s naval-history styles feature a “locker loop” on the rear collar and a “storm flap” embroidered with the Sperry Top-Sider cloud logo.

Fidelity Sportswear was established in Boston, Massachusetts in 1941 in a small loft in a four-story building with a total of 3,500 sq ft.  The present owners, Gerald and Stewart Webber, trace their involvement back to the late ’60s where their father Edward, a partner in the company, had them working in the factory during their early teenage years. It was during these early years that both Gerald and Stewart learned the manufacturing of outerwear through the entire process, from cutting of a garment to the shipping of a finished product.

Sperry Top-Sider Launches Second Handcrafted in Maine Collection for Spring 2013

The soft supple leather comes from Horween Leather Company in Chicago, the sturdy leather laces from Auburn, Kentucky, and the waxed thread that is essential to the hand sewing process comes from Lewiston, Maine. The shoes’ outsoles feature a Razor-Siping design that has been characteristic of Sperry Top-Sider shoes since their inception in 1935. Each box is hand stamped with the collection logo.

Sperry Top-Sider® Named Official Footwear of 2012 Head Of The Charles® Regatta

LEXINGTON, MA (Sept. 25, 2012) – Sperry Top-Sider, the leading global nautical performance and lifestyle brand, announced today that it will be the official footwear and boat shoe brand, as well as Patron Sponsor of the 2012 Head Of The Charles Regatta along the Charles River in Cambridge, Massachusetts, held Oct. 20-21. 

The Head Of The Charles Regatta, the world’s largest two-day rowing event, has been held every year since its first competition in 1965.  More than 600 universities, rowing clubs and institutions (including 400 of the top U.S. colleges) travel to Cambridge every year from across the nation and globe to compete in the world-class event. In 2012, 27 nations will be represented from around the world, including many Olympians from the London Games.

Sperry Top-Sider Named Title Sponsor of United States Sailing Team in Olympic Year

LEXINGTON, MA and PORTSMOUTH, RI (April 24, 2012) – Sperry Top-Sider®, the leading global nautical performance and lifestyle brand, announced today its title sponsorship of the US Sailing Team, newly named US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider. The title sponsorship is the brand’s highest profile sailing sponsorship to date and is effective immediately through December 31, 2016.

Announces Three New Product License Partners Covering Luggage, Watches and Eyewear

Sperry Top-Sider® Expands Brand Beyond Footwear

Announces Five New Product License Partners Covering a Range of New Sperry Branded Products for Spring 2013 Launch in the U.S. and Canada

Lexington, MA — Jan. 30, 2012 — Sperry Top-Sider, the leading nautical performance and lifestyle footwear brand and inventor of the world’s first boat shoe, continues to build on its market momentum through strategic product category expansion beyond footwear. Today the company announced that it has signed five new license agreements to expand Sperry Top-Sider branded products in such new areas as belts, bags, hosiery, eyewear, swimwear and cover-ups, headwear, scarves, gloves and shoe care, among others. The new product collections will launch in Spring 2013 in the brand’s wholly owned Sperry Top-Sider specialty retail stores located across the nation, sperrytopsider.com and at premium department stores and additional specialty retailers in the U.S. and Canada.

Additional deals are pending with partners covering such product categories as eyewear and watches, among others.
 
These partners will work closely with Sperry’s design and marketing teams to create their specific product collections.  Each partner will be responsible for the marketing and distribution to retailers across the U.S. and Canada, targeting department and specialty retail stores, as well as the expanding network of Sperry Top-Sider branded stores.

Sperry Top-Sider® Introduces the Fall 2012 Women’s Collection

Iconic Nautical Footwear Brand Celebrates Authenticity and Heritage for Fall 2012 Collection

(Lexington, MA) January 12, 2012 – Sperry Top-Sider, the iconic nautical performance and lifestyle brand best known for inventing the world’s first boat shoe in 1935, introduces its Fall 2012 women’s collection, which features a selection of new and updated styles.  The Fall collection is based on three themes that celebrate Sperry Top-Sider’s authenticity and expansion into new trend categories: fashion flats, lug and menswear-inspired heels.

Sperry Top-Sider’s design team is constantly putting new twists on their brand’s iconic styles.  This season, the fashion flats category draws inspiration from Sperry Top-Sider’s four seasonal trend stories: Aegean Dawn, Hyannis Port, Capri and Endless Summer.  A collection favorite, the Montauk is sleek and feminine with hints of the original boat shoe detailing, such as Sperry’s 360° Lacing SystemTM and rubber soles with wave-sipingTM. The Brooks, Annabelle, Rae, Serena and Madison are updated ballerina styles with penny loafer detailing, Sperry branded grosgrain bows, and metallic accents that all have a hint of prep.

Featuring wingtip details, round thin shoelaces and a namesake “lug” sole, the lug category is back for Fall 2012. New flat styles this season are the Ashbury and Kent, which both feature wingtips, brogue silhouettes and earth-tone colors. New heeled styles include the Emory and Claremont, which draw inspiration from last fall’s popular Princeton boot. The Winsor, which debuted in the Spring 2012 collection, takes inspiration from the classic penny loafer, but incorporates a heavy lug heel. 

Elevating Sperry Top-Sider to new heights, the menswear-inspired heels borrow elements directly from the boys. Combining classic boat shoe details and adding a high-fashion spin, the Seabourn, Windstar, Kirkwood and Mckenna feature wood stacked heels and/or wedges, tassels and the 360° Lacing System. Utilizing, luxurious suede, leather and patent highlights, the Windstar and Seabourn wedges offer sophistication with a preppy edge. The Kirkwood and Mckenna styles feature luxurious materials including wool, pony hair and silk shantung which appeal to the trend-savvy customer.

Iconic Nautical Footwear Brand Celebrates Authenticity and Heritage for Fall 2012 Collection

(Lexington, MA)— January 12, 2012 – Sperry Top-Sider, the iconic nautical performance and lifestyle brand best known for inventing the world’s first boat shoe in 1935, introduces its Fall 2012 men’s collection which features a selection of new and updated styles.  The Fall collection is based on three stories that celebrate the authenticity and heritage of the brand: canvas, lug and cold weather.

Sperry Top-Sider’s canvas vulcanized product took inspiration this season from seersucker and gingham, which reflects the nautical, preppy lifestyle of the brand’s consumer. New additions for the season include the CVO Shirting collection, which includes two chambray styles, as well as gingham and seersucker options.  Classic silhouettes in the canvas collection such as the Striper Slip On, CVO, Bahama 2-Eye and Bahama Chukka are back for Fall 2012 in new and traditional colorways. 

The Fall lug collection integrates classic and new silhouettes with heeled lug soles to create a unique aesthetic.  A new favorite - the Boat Oxford - has been incorporated into the collection with two silhouettes: the Boat Oxford Lug Boot and the Boat Oxford Lug Saddle.  Another new offering this season combines the durability of the lug collection with the brand’s innovative ASV Technology to create the Mariner II Lug Chukka, a style that is as comfortable as it is stylish. Additional new boot styles for men include the Shipyard Chelsea and Shipyard Snake Boot.

The cold weather collection features classic styles such as the Wetlands High, which will be available in two new styles that incorporate a fresh pop of color in the interior of the upper.  New to the collection is the Wetlands Pull On Boot, which contains the same waterproof, seam-sealed construction and durable stain and water resistant leather that is common across the entire cold weather collection.
