Sperry Top-Sider Partners with Fidelity Sportswear: The Two Iconic New England Brands Launch Capsule Collection for Fall 2012
Lexington, Mass and Boston — (Sep. 25, 2012) – Sperry Top-Sider, the leading nautical performance and lifestyle brand famous for inventing the world’s first boat shoe in 1935, is partnering with naval heritage brand, Fidelity Sportswear, on a coordinated footwear and outerwear capsule collection. The collection for men and women is launching in Fall 2012 at high-end retailers and boutiques across the globe next month.
Reflecting the DNA of both brands, the new line combines Sperry and Fidelity detailing in shoes and outerwear items. The Fidelity for Sperry Top-Sider footwear line includes two women’s and three men’s styles featuring classic Sperry silhouettes — the Authentic Original 2-Eye, Authentic Original 7-Eye, CVO and Shipyard boot styles — with uppers made of Fidelity’s signature wool fabrics and military-inspired button and buckle detailing.
The Sperry Top-Sider for Fidelity outerwear collection features jackets for men and women that include Sperry Top-Sider design cues such as white binding details, crimson closures, and a wave siping-inspired lining. Drawing from Fidelity’s naval-history styles feature a “locker loop” on the rear collar and a “storm flap” embroidered with the Sperry Top-Sider cloud logo.

Established in Boston in 1941, Fidelity Sportswear maintains its Massachusetts roots and continues to manufacture its products under one roof in America.
The footwear collection will be available in September at retailers including Nordstrom, Nordstrom.com, Piperlime.com and influential boutiques worldwide. Select retailers including UrbanOutfitters.com, Sperry TopSider.com and the Sperry Top-Sider retail stores will be carrying the expanded apparel and footwear collections. Fidelity Sportswear was established in Boston, Massachusetts in 1941 in a small loft in a four-story building with a total of 3,500 sq ft. The present owners, Gerald and Stewart Webber, trace their involvement back to the late ’60s where their father Edward, a partner in the company, had them working in the factory during their early teenage years. It was during these early years that both Gerald and Stewart learned the manufacturing of outerwear through the entire process, from cutting of a garment to the shipping of a finished product.
As the company has grown, the garments offered for men and women have expanded to where now Fidelity has increased its line to include Navy-inspired Pea Coats and CPO shirts, as well as the fashion collection by Gerald and Stewart featuring styling inspired by the heritage and iconic nature of the original Fidelity styles of the early ’40s.
